How to spot a fake geek guy:

  • says robin is useless
  • says aquaman is useless
  • worships batman bc batman is invincible
  • doesn’t “understand” superman because he’s not relatable or interesting
  • makes “hero vs hero” posts
  • probably smells like axe

it’s just like so weird cause a lot of tumblrisms are clearly stemmed from aave and then killed by non-black POC & white people hence their constant misuse and eventual overuse, until black people come up w more terms to use

terms like

  • basic
  • prayer circle
  • thirst/thirsty/the thirst
  • (example) game on point
  • (example) game strong
  • slay
  • shade
  • bruh
  • hunty
  • bae
  • stay in [pronoun] lane

etc etc etc

stop usin aave just because you learned it on tumblr

you’re still not entitled to it and you’re especially not if you just use it to seem hip and cool and funny

cause what it boils down to is that you don’t use it for expression and you were not raised to speak like that, nor do you live around people who speak like that— you just use it to be funny in front of your friends and that’s the thing I don’t like

this is a good post and im going to go ahead and add that the very popular word fuckboy is aave and existed pre tumblr in the black community stop using it

He was carrying a sword? This mf in my geography class carried a sword to class everyday and when I expressed my discomfort it was dismissed. But this brotha was shot in the back.

and it was a blunted sword.. couldn’t have cut anybody… but white people walking around with loaded rifles in target…

Exactly! This is evil.

Damn. Niggas can’t even cosplay anymore? I would love to see the cosplay community say something about this but that definitely won’t happen
Also: this paper is edited by a clown. It should’ve been in the first fucking paragraph that this dude was cosplaying. I’m reading this shit wondering why the fuck this negro is walking down the street with a sword and obvious answer is hidden almost at the en of the article.
This dude was cosplaying.
He was dressed up in a costume.
Should all black people just stay home on Halloween this year?

Friendly reminder that the police shot a black cosplayer in the back

What makes me so happy about this is that she isn’t telling you you must love your body or that you are obligated to. She saying you have permission to. And that’s important, because there are a lot of reasons why people have trouble with self-love.  But the idea that you aren’t supposed to love your body, that you aren’t allowed to for whatever reason, needs to be crushed. If you can’t love you body right now, if your body causes you pain or disphoria or distress, you aren’t required to love it. But you are ALLOWED to. You are entitled to the chance to make peace with your body, if you ever reach a point where you are ready to. No one else should be trying to stop you.

Sometimes I see or read things, and I didn’t realize that I needed them until they are two GIFs of Nicki Minaj and some amazing commentary that come across my dash and I instantly burst in to tears and feel a weight lifted off my chest.

good good commentary..

The St Louis County Council wasn’t as bad as Ferguson’s Council, but still very few answers and virtually no accountability from the folks who unleashed unholy hell on the residents of Ferguson, following Brown’s murder. #staywoke #farfromover

"Elmo is with his good friend, Lupita. They are talking about all the great things about their skin. For example, Elmo’s skin just happens to be very ticklish. Lupita’s skin happens to be a beautiful brown color. Skin can come in all different shades and colors. Isn’t skin just the best? However, ticklish or smooth or black or brown or white or tan, be sure to love the skin you are in."

I love this. I LOVE THIS. I love this. Children need to see this. Adults need to see this.

Kamala Khan + Possitive experiences about her culture/religion
This is so important, in my opinion. Because it’d be very easy for Marvel to have a Muslim character rebelling against a traditionalist culture and just putting it as retrograde or closed off… but instead we see Kamala slowly learning the balance between who she wants to be and what she believes in… and we get to see how her believes have shaped her into the hero she now is.

Kamala is a beautiful character and Ms. Marvel is a beautiful comic.
